I reinstalled and am having trouble. When I go to capture and click on capture video, it goes to full screen with nothing around it. I can't get back and tell it to start or stop capture. The only way I've found to get out is stop the program completely with F4.
It also does this when I press play in the Edit tab, but escape will get out of it. I just want it to play in the window on the screen.
It's different than when I click on the full screen icon - that has buttons and a frame around it.

Under "Preferences" the F6 Hotkey I would change the default preview from "DualHead" or something worded like that to preview only.
Sounds like your video card is setup for screen overlay to full screen, that's usually done with a dual screen setup but it you setup it up incorrectly this can also happen when you play the video on the same screen.
It's also happening in the edit mode when you press PLAY so that's an indication it's your present video cards setup to play overlayed video as full screen.
So try under Preferences F6 to change the "Preview Mode" to preview only.
Just noticed your using a NVidea Video Card.
In the NVidia Advanced Configuration screen under the selection that says "Full Screen Video" from Automatic to Disabled.
Hope that's it.
