Moving path starburst effect?

Post by fatbloke »

Over a static image (lasting 10 seconds on screen) I would like to generate a number of white starbursts (lasting approx 0.25 secs each) of varying sizes, in several positions over the image. I can easily do this with squares using a 2-D moving path but I can't see how to do the same thing with a star shape. Can anyone advise please or am I asking too much from MSP8? Hope this request makes sense.

I see no reason why you cannot do it. I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to do, but the following should be sufficient to give you some hints.

1. Draw the star shape you want in your favourite graphics editor (or import one).
2. Save it in tga format with the background layer transparent
3. Bring the tga file onto your timeline at a higher number track than your background image
4. Adjust the length and time position to what you want
5. Hit it with the MP to adjust the size and spatial position

Alternatively, you can save the star image in BMP or JPG, keeping the background and you can use an overlay function, such as bluescreen, to make the background transparent.
