Voice Over problem

Post by ctscar190 »

I have completed a video and now I want to add voice over. I clicked on music and voice tab, moved jog slider to appropriate position, clicked record voice, but got message "Device error cannot open the wave in device." What does this mean and how do I fix it?

You should have had a small meter pop open prior to recording, to allow you to set your volume level.

If not right-click on the speaker icon in your task bar (where your clock or time is displayed in the lower right), then select Adjust Audio Properties. You should then see the following, or something similar.

Clicking on the Audio or Voice tab will allow you to check to make sure your soundcard or audio device is selected.

Then click on the Volume button to open the volume adjustments. Make sure that the box for Microphone is checked and the slider is not all the way down.

You might also check using other software or clicking the Test Hardware button on one of the above tabs.

Voice Over problem

Post by ctscar190 »

:D

Thank you Vidoman. I got the voice meter to work ok. The only problem now is I cannot get the volume on to the timeline. All settings are at a max. The microphone that I am using is a Nady Stereo Condenser Mic SBM 500 which is designed for video cameras. When used into the camera, I get terrific sound, but into the computer, the results are poor. I have an Intel Dual Core processor with Realtek Audio. Should I find a way of boosting the signal from the microphone or perhaps use a dedicated audio editing programme, although this seems a lot of overkill just to get a voice on to the timeline!

Again, thank you for your help!
