Can't Install PI12 on New install of Vista

Post by NashTech »

Just installed new Vista Home Premium (RTM - fresh install). Trying to install PI12 and get this error:

Error Code: -5009 : 0x8002801d
Error Information:
>Kernel\CABFile.cpp (263)
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1611)
pAPP:Ulead PhotoImpact
PVENDOR:Ulead Systems
PGUID:11AFE21E-B193-430D-B57A-DFF7815BB962
$7.1.100.1248PAK
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) BT_OTHER 0.0

This happens just a couple of seconds after the intellishield wizard starts and the green bar moves about half-way across the screen. Then it crashes.

I've tried to install as an admin as well.

I can download and install the trial of PI12 (did this later), but still can't do the same for the purchased version.

Any advice?

Hi Nash

I have some problems like this one, but I still using the RC1 of Vista, and the only way to install is using the compatibilty mode with XP...so I could install it and begin to work.

Hi Nash

I too had the same problem. I got the install to work by choosing Run when downloading the file rather than Save and then starting the install later.

I logged the issue with Ulead who very unhelpfully stated that it was an Install Shield error and not their problem and that I should look at the Install Shield support forums!

I am using Vista Home Premium on a Intel Quad Processor PC, 2GB Ram, 700gb disk space.

Thanks for your responses. I eventually got it to install by using compatibility mode and turning off all special windows (ie Aero) features.
