PhotoImpact 11 Pro Tutorial

Post by ED ROBERTS »

Hellow Everyone

My name is Ed Roberts I,ve been using Vs10+ for a little while, and it has been a good program. So I went out and bought PI11pro to help me make menues for VS10. I down loaded Steves tutorial for PI but he is using it with VS9. I tried to follow the tutorial but got lost because I did not have some of the features Vs9 has. Will you have a tutorial for PI11 to work with VS10+ so we who are not able to follow directions can make menues. Thank you in advance ulead is a very good program, And I have learned alot from your web board.

Welcome to the forums Ed,

The differences between VS9 and VS10+ are not that great. With VS9 of course you only have 1-overlay track, with VS10+ you have 6 overlay tracks. If need be you don't need to use more then 1 overlay, if it helps you through the tutorial. VS10+ has many more features, such as being able to choose from 4 UI layouts, and then the ability to use 5.1 Dolby, inserting VSPs (VideoStudio Project Files), HD video, just to name a few.

There is not anything dramatically different between PI-11 and PI12. With PI-11 there are separate Workspaces (Advanced, Basic Photo, Graphics, Standard Photo and Web). The toolbar, Easy Palette, Libraries, and Galleries all appear to be the same.

With PI-12, instead of using "Workspaces" they use Full Edit, Video & DVD, and Web. These are essentially the same as the Workspaces in PI-11.

You mentioned that you purchased PI-11 Pro. I suspect that you have Nova's version of PI, correct? If so this should be similar, but will have some differences. Of course Nova PhotoImpact is not Ulead PhotoImpact. So that may be what is confusing you, Nova's UI being different.

If you post specific questions on the problems you are having with PI in the PhotoImpact Forum http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewforum.php?f=6 then someone will help you through it. If no one else can provide clarification regarding Steve's tutorial, then I know Steve most certainly can and will.

Of course post questions about VS in this forum, and several of us will do what we can to walk you through it..

The only significant differences are the file locations.

VideoStudio 10+ keeps its Menu templates here:
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10\Content\Menu Template
In VideoStudio 9 they are here:
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0\Template

The DVD Menu Plug in with PhotoImpact 12 enables you to create 16.9 Menus and 4.3 Menus whilst the DVD Menu Plug in for PhotoImpact 11 only enables you to create 4.3 Menus (So you have to do 16.9 menus manually)

The PhotoImpact 12 also supports SmartScene menus.

The Menu Plug in for PhotoImpact 11 only lists DVD Workshop 2 but any menus created will also work with VideoStudio and MovieFactory.

The Menu Plug in for PhotoImpact 12 only lists VideoStudio and Movie Factory but any 4.3 Menus (Other than Smartscene) will also work with DVD Workshop 2.

The procedure for creating a menu has not changed and the naming conventions of the parts that make up your DVD Menu remain the same.

So are you having problems selecting a frame using the pick tool, or aligning them, or something else? You hold the shift key to multi-select objects. Then look for the Align menu. You can right-click to get the Align menu also.
