Rendering from AVI to MPEG created two files VS10+

Post by martyt »

Hi All,
I've just rendered (through Share-Create Video File) an avi file to mpeg and Ulead has created two rendered files. The length of the project is one and a half hours long. The first rendered file is 3.99gb and the second is 1.26gb. Normally it would give me just the one rendered file. Have I missed something in my settings?
Thanks in advance for any help.

What file system are you using with your hard drive (ie how is your hard disk formatted)? FAT32 or NTFS?
I am guessing that it is FAT32 and the maximum filesize is 4Gb and that is why you have two files.

Thanks for your reply Jeff. The only thing I did different this time around was use my new external hard drive. I'll check the file system later today but my guess is that you are right and it's formatted as FAT32. Thanks again.

Please click here --> Image so that we can then view your system specifications.

If you are using Windows XP then I strongly recommend that you convert your hard drive to the NTFS system. It is reasonably quick and you will not have to re-install any of your software.

The external hard drive was formatted as FAT32. I use Windows XP Professional and after backing up the files converted it to NTFS as follows:

Start-Settings-Control Panel-Admin Tools-Computer Management-Disk Management-Right Click relevant Drive-Format

Everything is now ok and my project has been rendered as one file instead of two. Thanks for your replies.
