Have I messed up the menu template folder? (VS10+)

Post by brodwidr »

Hi -

I browsed the menu templates in this post: http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=19453

and copied them as directed to the folders in my Ulead program folder. I think I did something wrong, because now when I am in "share" and have laid out my chapters, clicked "create menu" and "next" I get the error message "Cannot create menu".

Can someone please clarify how these folders need to be structured, and how to drag new templates into the right spot without making a mess? I do like some of these templates and would like to be able to use them.

Should I just uninstall and reinstall the program to solve this problem?

Thanks,
David

Hi David

I have just tried this, and it seems to work .
From the link provided I downloaded the two zip files

smartscene05.zip
smartscene05w.zip (w for widescreen 16:9)

each contained a ufo file:-

smartscene05.ufo (copied to C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10\Content\Menu Template\4x3\One Scene Button )

smartscene05w.ufo ( Copied to C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10\Content\Menu Template\16x9\One Scene Button )

They seem to work. I haven¡¦t burned a disc, but I have no reason to think they will not work.

Try removing the files that you copied to these folders.
If Video Studio still does not perform, then try a repair.
This should revert your program to its default settings.
All libraries and personal preferences will be changed to their defaults.

As Trevor pointed out, smart scene menus are stored here
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10\Content\Menu Template\4x3\One Scene Button
and here
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10\Content\Menu Template\16x9\One Scene Button

In addition
Thumbnail menus are stored here
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10\Content\Menu Template\4x3\Scene Button
and here
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10\Content\Menu Template\16x9\Scene Button

Text menus are stored here
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10\Content\Menu Template\4x3\Text Button
and here
C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10\Content\Menu Template\16x9\Text Button

These are the default directories, if you have installed VS to anywhere other than the default path then modify the above to
your install directory\Content\Menu Template\...
eg
D:\Program Files\Ulead VideoStudio 10+\Content\Menu Template\16x9\Text Button

VS also creates a favourites directory here (no matter where you have VS installed I think)
C:\Documents and Settings\your_name\My Documents\Ulead VideoStudio\10.0\Favorites
This should contain a 4x3 and a 16x9 folder where you can store additional templates. When you modify a pre existing template and save it as a favourite, this is where they will be stored. These templates should show up under the aptly named "Favorites' category in your drop down list.

Out of interest, which menu did you download, and where did you store it?

peace.

Hi

Also:-

You may also find that the favourites folder does not exist until you¡¦ve saved a customised template. This then seems to create the folder and the 4x3 16x9 subfolders.

Copying your ufo files hear should work.

Thanks Trevor, I didn't realize the favourites folders were created when saving the first time. Good to know.

peace.

Thanks, everyone.

I didn't keep good records of exactly what I moved in. I did manually create a "favorites" folder, since one of the pages said move a file to it.

I tried "repair" and repair only repairs the program but did not restore the ancillary files to their original condition. I am now going to uninstall and reinstall the program from the original diskettes.

Hi David

Afaik Re installing will not remove the favourites folder.
Unless you do a clean install.

Delete the folder you created from the hard drive.

Now start vs,
Insert a video
Share create disc
Next
Edit tab
Customise
Change the Background Music
Add to menu template -------should create the required folders
