Do you by chance cause a loose connection between the video card in the
computer to the monitor?
I would check the video cable connection to the monitor and the
connection at the monitor.
Eliminate a mechanical failure first if possible.
If that doesn't work you may have to go into the video screen properties
and reset the system to default.
Hop this helps,

I thought about that but went back and checked again anyway. No luck so far. I have contacted Sony (monitor), ATI (graphics adapeter), Pioneer (DVD burner) and Ulead. ATI's response was generic and I have not recieved follow-ups from the ohters.
I have tried updating all the drivers and this did not help.
I am running Windows XP SP1, HP Pavilion 774Y with 1GB ram, 80GB hard drive, P4 3.06GHz with hyperthreading.

If you take the monitor to aother PC, will it work properly??
If you remove the burner, will it work OK??
I do not think it's a software problem. However, you can check.
Hope this helps.
