Sorry to see JCHunter not participating in this board. My video editing experience began with HD ( Sony HDR-HC3) and I was fortunate to find the tutorial and all the intricate settings peculiar to HD and mpeg. I wish to express my gratitude to the helpers here on this board.

The simplicity of the tutorial made up for the overwhelming complexity of video editing in general.

I understand Ulead's concern that such an engaging and publicly accessible tutorial that mentions bugs could adversely influence customers to not to purchase, so they need to take a defensive stand. Uleads comments would have more balance if they were seen to get involved with working thru software issues here on the forum. If anyone has had the experience of being involved with Videoredo support team you will understand. The respect this gains makes one very happy to buy the software.

Ocular,

John's tutorials were are great starting point with pictures to walk one through the process.
I was fortunate to find the tutorial and all the intricate settings peculiar to HD
I don't understand that statement unless your converting your videos to another format like WMV / Divx or Mov.
If your working with Mpeg2 video, Standard or HighDefintion the same rules apply when editing mpeg2 video. The only difference with HighDef Mpeg2 versus standard defintion the frame sizes and bit-rates are higher.
If your working with a SD project in VS using mpeg2 source files you set your "Project Properties" equal to your source material.
If your working with a HD project in VS using mpeg2 source files you set your "Project Properties" equal to your source material.
Then when you create your final video you goto "Share" -> "Create Video File" -> "Same As Project Settings".

There are no intricate settings peculiar to HD. They are standard hd-mpeg2 settings. The only intricate subject I've come across is most computers don't have the capability of playing back the HD-Mpeg2 correctly. This causes one to believe that they did something wrong in VS or steers the person in the wrong direction to solve his/her playback problems.
Most people try to use "Windows Media Player". That is a bad choice. To playback HD-Mpeg2 Video correctly on ones computer you need a HD-Certified Video Card AND a HD Certified Player.
Windows Media Player needs a HD Plugin to playback HD correctly. You have to buy the plugin and then setup WMP to use the plugin.

This tutorial has been put up on this link,

As stated by many for those newbies needing to establish a workflow for HD Video with Ulead VS 10+ with the minimum of fuss this tutorial is invaluable.

The extra dimension added by HD video is how to deal with the files so that they are useable. This tutorial goes into detail on how to downconvert to DVD compliant mpeg and DivX so that the video can then be used on standard hardware. Directions for frame size, bitrate, frame order (interlaced/deinterlaced/progressive) are well illustrated.

Working with HD is no different to working with SD with the obvious exception of frame sizes and bit rates. You still import, cut, trim, add transitions, titles and so on in exactly the same way.
