I've been working with mpegs on a nice little video i'm doing but I run into trouble with avi video.

My question is how can I turn it from avi to mpeg?

Which flavour of AVI? AVI is only a container format. It can contain all sorts of compressed and non compressed video formats.

And what flavour of MPEG? There is a world of difference between MPEG-1, -2 and -4.

Are you able to get these things onto the time line? If yes, right click and look at properties. If not, where did they come from?

Last time I checked mp3 was sound not video and 16 bit 640 x 480 doesn't mean much to me either, sorry.

DivX video.. To convert that to MPEG you will probably have better luck using SUPER. However DivX is a very highly compressed format, and you are wanting to convert it to a lesser compressed format. You realize that you are going to suffer a loss in quality, possibly at more then one step. Just by converting it from DivX to MPEG-2 (hopefully DVD compliant), then again if it has to be recoded after any editing.

Tell me about it! I think I'm messing up with "Super" I've tried 4 times to encode the file but with sooo many options I'm messing up

What should I do with Super like step by step with the file I'm using

Could really use a hand, Thank you

In the top/right of the Super dialog is a checkbox that forces it to use DirectShow. Try encoding with that checked and see what happens.

I read this and I laughed myself off the chair... I have always wondered why people just can't use the word "type"

(sorry... don't mean to offend.... I just thought it always sounded a bit too Hollywood-ish)
