From the program (PI-12), with my image open (it does not matter the file type or size) , I chose-file-print preview. I then select the printer (HP Photosmart B9180). When I click on the properties menu to select the paper type, that's when the program locks up. I have to do a Ctrl-Alt-Delete to get out of the lock-up.
I can print from the windows print wizard with no problem. I have two other printers that if chosen from PI-12, I can print to with no problem, it's only the HP B9180 that I have the problem with. I've called HP and they tell me the problem is with the program, not the printer.
Platform - Windows XP with all the latest updates
Resources - Plenty, 2 gig RAM, 2 - 300 gig hard drives
I've spent days fighting this problem, loaded, unloaded, new updated progarms, defragged, cleaned up all old and unnecessary file, lots or free space and all other function run fine.
AND BTW, I have a new Notebook computer, I've loaded the same programs on it, and the problem is the same.
cannot print from Ulead PI-12

That clearly proves that PI is at faultAND BTW, I have a new Notebook computer, I've loaded the same programs on it, and the problem is the same.
Do you have the latest printer drivers?
I wouldn't bother trying to print out of PI with the HP.

Have you tried setting the paper type in the HP's Printing Preferences with PI closed? In Windows, go to Start, Settings, Printers... and set the paper type in the HP's printing preferences. Just right-click on the HP and select "Preferences."
Then see if you can print from it in PI... just don't try mucking with the paper type when PI is open. See if that works...
