PI 12 .ufo files
PI 12 .ufo files
I used to have PI 10. After moving things from 10 to 12, I deleted 10. In Windows Explore, I cannot view the .ufo files as an image. I was able to do this in 10. I've searched through the perferences and cannot find any setting to change. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix the problem?

Thanks, but I have bigger problems than that now. My Ulead Video Studio 10 is not working at all. When I open it I get an error about reference memory . I try to debug it, but it completely crashes. That's not all. I have a lot of ULEAD products and a lot of them are now buggy. The Movie Factory 3 has the same error, but it will let me start the program by using the debug. I get another error when I close it. My DVD Workshop 2 gets the error, but when I debug, instead of opening DVD Workshop, it goes to Movie Factory 3. My Photo Express 6 did have the same bug, but I saw someone's post to remove a file in the vio--uvavi.vio. That's the only one that worked. After hours and hours of trying to get my Easy Pallette to work, my Photo Impact 12 now works, but it does strange things when trying to use capital letters as pallette names, but I could deal with that if I could see my .ufo files. I am a graphics designer for 2 scrapbook companies. I really need to be able to see the files in Windows Explorer, but I can get around it of course by using my only functioning program, Photo Explorer 8.6. I really think the new Windows update fried my ULEAD products, and I am very frustrated as I need them for work!
Thank you for any help you can give.

I fear there is something wrong with either your memory installed or with your HDD's.
Do a memory check and check your HDD's for errors. I hope you have current backups for all your important work.
It is always to make a backup of a file (rename it rather than delete it) from any of the system folders. It could be that the file you deleted has an influence on other aspects and programs. Can you restore that file?

Yes, I have a backup of that file, but it is not a vio file for the other programs, just Photo Express. I didn't delete it also; I just moved it to another location.
I did a scan on my hard drive last week, and there were no errors. I also defragged it too. I have a gig & half of memory and have no problems with any other programs including Adobe Photoshop CS2 and other 3D rendering video programs.
I will try moving the file back & see if it helps the other programs to function.
Thanks,
Cyndy

OK, I put the file back. The only thing it did was keep my Photo Express from opening. The other programs still would not work so I took it back off.
I have gone through the removing ULEAD products list a half dozen times, deleting temp files and all the other recommended procedures. I of course only deleted the programs from the Add & Remove in Windows. After cleaning folders and reinstalling the programs, I still get the errors. I have some heavy duty programs on my computer that all function properly. I think this is a ULEAD issue, but I could be wrong and would welcome all ideas (except anything that involves removing Photo Impact--I need it and have spent hours getting my Easy Pallette back).
I ran a memory check (Windows Memory Diagnostic) as you suggested. I ran it 3 passes through all 6 tests and there were no errors. I am getting a weird thing everytime I boot up my computer. My Windows Explorer opens up to the ULEAD Bin file in Program Files. Inside is this file--uAgentService.dll. Could this be the source of some of my problems?
Thanks again,
Cyndy

I have had faulty memory which passed the basic test several times. The extended test found them to be faulty though. The extended test does take a while to complete and I would let it run for at least 4 or 5 cycles.
Where did you point your Ulead programs for virtual memory? Just a folder on the system drive? Make a few more folders and make sure you don't have HDD space or memory usage limited. You'll find these settings in the File menu under Preferences
