recording off internet
I have a close friend who is getting married in the Figi islands this weekend and it is too far from the UK to join them. They will however be providing some sort of internet video of the wedding. Is it possible for Ulead 10 to capture the internet signal so that I can replay it later

The simple answer is no, Video Studio cannot capture streaming video from the internet.
As John said, if you can download the file rather than streaming it, or even get a hard copy in the post, those are much better options.
If not, there are a bunch of programs out there ranging in price from FRAPS (Free) http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... ight=fraps,
to the low/midrange but still reasonable quality like Riverpast Screen Recorder (US$ 39.95) http://www.riverpast.com/en/prod/screenrecorder/,
to the excellent but expensive Camtasia Studio (US$299.00)
http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp.
Those are just examples, if you do a google search you'll find heaps. I've used the second two with no complaints, but cannot speak for FRAPS.
Windows Media Encoder 9 (which should have been installed along with VS) has the ability to capture screen activity, but having played around with it once or twice I wouldn't recommend it, the results were always far from satisfactory.
Whatever you go with, be sure to test the software on Youtube or something first. Many (maybe all) of these programs will require you to lower or turn off hardware acceleration first. Otherwise it will look O.K while recording, but you'll probably end up with a black screen in your recorded file. Not such a great keepsake!
peace.
