Problem with VideoStudio 7 SE VIDEO CAPTURE

Post by withGod »

I have just installed VideoStudio 7 SE for use with my SAMSUNG D325i Camcorder.

However, when I click on Video Capture, I get this error prompt;

"The current video capture size is 160x120, it does not match the capture setting VCD PAL 352x288. The adjustments maybe incorrect or your capture device does not support 352x288. Please adjust the dimensions before capturing - Capturing failed"

I have set my camcorder setting to 352x288, but still doesn't work.

Also, the OPTIONS settings are not enabled in Videostudio.

I am using a USB Cable for my PC TO CAMCORDER connection.

Kindly help me out please.

Cheers

I don't know your camera, but assume it is a digital one. If so, then I further assume that the 'i' at the end implies that it has an i-link (i.e. 4 pin Firewire) connection to hook it up to your computer. I am further assuming that the USB port on the camera is a USB 1.0 version, which is far too slow to transfer video. It would be there to transfer still images taken by that aspect of the camera. The fact that your computer's USB connection is a fast USB 2 is irrelevant if the camera's is USB 1.

In other words, you will need to connect the camera to your computer by a 4 pin to 6 pin Firewire cable. Of course, your computer will need to have aFirewire port either on the motherboard or video card. If it does not, then you would need to buy a Firewire card (fairly cheap -- around US$20 here is Australia)

So much thanks for your advice, most appreciated.

However, my laptop has got a 4-pin Firewire port AND so is my Samsung Camcorder also.

Would it be alright if I use a 4 pin TO 4 pin Firewire cable INSTEAD of 4 pin TO 6 pin as you suggested?

Cheers!

Yes, absolutely. For reasons that I don't understand, laptops (including mine) have a 4-pin firewire port. A 4-pin to 4-pin works perfectly.
