Problem with multi trim video facility

Post by tonyjer »

Hi Everyone

Firstly apologies for not acknowledging previous help on shaky VHS capture. (Many thanks John)

Am editing some VHS (TV movie)analogue footage which I captured using the AV-DV facility on my Canon DV.

My intention is to edit out the commercials and I want to use the clip/multi trim video facility which I like and have never had a problem with. However, the problem is that when you get rid of the unwanted bit using the F3/F4 keys and confirm the procedure the clip in the timeline still has the commercials. When you try to re do and highlight the clip for multi trim it confirms that the commercials are gone!!

Should I reach for the tablets or the whiskey?

Never come across this mother before!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think I know what you mean. Sure you can trim the clips; but they are theoretically still "there".
If you highlight the clip in the timeline, and press the Play button, you will see the clip - the whole clip. If you press Shift-Play, this will play only the selected portion of the clip (Ooo, the commercials are gone!). Alternatively, you can confirm this by selecting Project view.
A drop of whiskey always helps though..
