Problem with KonicaMinolta 2400W Laser Printer

When I try to print a digital photo using PhotoImpact 10 the image comes out distorted. I can correct the output by ditorting the image in the opposite direction on my monitor. Is there a known problem here?

I just purchased a Konica Minolta 2430DL color laser printer. I noticed that PI cannot print at the printer's higher resolutions, 1200x600 and 2400x600. In the print preview window, it always shows a 2"x8.5" ruler, and distorts the picture when it prints. It seems that PI can't handle a printer where the vertical and horizontal resolution are different. Printing at 600x600 works just fine, except for the fact that I can't use the printer for what I bought it for - printing hi-res images! Windows Preview doesn't have this problem. So, now I have to find some other program for printing the images. These color laser printers have been out for a few years now, I think. You'd think that the problem would have been fixed by now. I have seen other user posts describing the same problem and have not seen any response by any Ulead representatives. Does Ulead read the forum?

Not as a matter of course, there are a few Ulead employees who browse the forum in the same manner as any other forum member so hoping for a response by posting here stands little chance of success.

To get a response from a Ulead employee you need to submit a Technical Request form from the Ulead Website

Try this before printing using PI10 or 11.

To set print server properties and create a new custom form.

You must be logged on as an administrator to set print server properties. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy may also prevent you from completing this procedure.

Open Printers and Faxes.
On the File menu, click Server Properties.
Click the tab named form, and create a new custom form the dimensions you require.

Before you hit the OK key when Printing In Ulead, change the printers properties to the new custom form. Then print your form.

Wow! Fast response. Thanks guys. I'll try creating a new custom form first. If that doesn't work, I'll submit a Technical Request to Ulead. In any case, I'll report back here what I find out.

Using PhotoImpact 8 with a Konica Minolta 2430DL color laser printer, I am having the same problem with the printed page width being halved or distorted. The easy solution I have found is to change the "print quality" setting to 600 x 600 dpi while in the print preview mode. For my needs this is OK, but a fix/patch for mismatched printer H x W resolutions (i.e. 1200 x 600) is really needed to take advantage of the higher print quality available. The printer works fine with other programs so I assume this is a Ulead PI issue.
Also have PI shutdowns/crashes now that the new printer is installed. Not sure why but this never happened before.
