Multi-tasking with Video Studio 10+ and Nero 6

Post by kjfrey1701 »

I want to multi-task as I'm working in Video Studio 10+

Tasks:
1. Adding video files to the timeline, creating chapters with chapter points in the Chapter Point Bar, performing Share > Create Video File.
2. Using Share > Create Disk to add video file above, create menus then create DVD folders.
3. Burning the DVD from the DVD folders (using Nero).

I know that these steps should be performed without doing anything else with your computer in order to make sure the DVD's don't have glitches.
Given my system, it seems that I should be able to do at least two of these at the same time. I wondering if this is possible either by just working on a VSP project and a Nero burning at the same time, or running one or the other in a Virtual PC on this machine.

My system:
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600)
3.00 gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 (Multi-threading)
16 kilobyte primary memory cache
1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache
Board: Intel Corporation D915GAV AAC64134-402
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
1536 Megabytes Installed Memory

Drives
LITE-ON DVD SOHD-16P9S [CD-ROM drive]
PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-111D [CD-ROM drive]
ST380817AS [Hard drive] (80.02 GB) -- drive 0
WDC WD2500YD-01NVB1 [Hard drive] (250.99 GB) -- drive 1
ST380021 A USB Device [Hard drive] (80.02 GB) -- drive 2

Why don't you try it and find out? Use an RW and you have nothing to lose.

Thanks Jeff. I'll give it a shot. I just didn't want to re-invent the wheel if one of the more experienced members had already worked this out.

Well, it's not usually recommended, if only to avoid problems. If it works for you, great.

Any of the more experienced members around here, as far as I can tell, advise against it  Hence, there might not be any in depth experience to share with you.

By all means, give it a shot and let us know how you go. I would personally be very interested to find out how you go with burning out of Ulead VS when NERO InCD is installed.
