How to remove Blank lead in

Post by stonetube »

There is a default lead-in section of 6 blank Black frames that is generated by the Video Editor (VS 10) ... I don't want them as I need to save the film exactly as the imported clip was created without the Blank lead in. How do I eliminate this?

Can you tell us what you might have done to the video before you noticed the six black frames.

I have been using Video Studio since VS7, and have never once seen any black frames added by default. In fact I have just gone to some recently captured DV and inserted various clips in the timeline, and expanded them out to a frame by frame view, and no black frames. They all start on the first frame with visible video in them.

Where did the video come from and in what format? If from a video camera, then maybe the camera itself rolls for a fraction of a second (i.e. about 6 frames worth) before actually sending the video signal... Just guessing...

But cannot replicate your problem in VS10+.

In point of fact, I usually manually add black frames (or some other colour) at the beginning of my videos, to allow a couple of seconds for the video to "settle" in when it is played back. Also to insert titles, and to allow background music to fade in...

I have noticed that if I start right at the very beginning of a video, then when it is burned to DVD and played back on a stand-alone player, usually the first couple of seconds are clipped or the audio seems to appear out of nowhere, a couple of seconds in from the start...
