Hi people...after did some tests I get the UFO file to work on Vista:
To work if the files with windows explorer: go to your control panel / folder options and in the view tab turn on the option Always show icons, never thumbnails - and now you can move, delete UFO files without problem, the only one here is that you cant see the thumbs in windows explorer....
My solution: get Xplorer2 (http://zabkat.com/), works with the free version. Put all your UFO files in a directory only for then. In the Xplorer2 menu Tools / Options (almost in the middle of the options window) set the Item icons to Simple (fast) or Plain (fastest). Now you can use Xplorer2 to move, rename and delete the files. Xplorer2 can create different tabs to better navegation so, create a tab only for you UFO folder.
Resuming: the real problem with Vista is that it try to render a thumb for UFO files then they get a error like for some DivX files too.
Hpe this help and now I CAN USE PI!!!!!!!!!!!
Some Vista solution

Another solution
I've been using Vista since Beta 2... And I quickly discovered that PhotoImpact didn't play nice with it in many regards.
So, after a lot of playing around, I discovered a solution that doesn't require any "drastic measures" (i.e., you don't have to disable thumbnail previews for files across the board).
You can disable attempts to show UFO file thumbnails (which, as already stated, is what causes the crashes) simply be renaming one of the DLL files in the "Program Files\Ulead PhotoImpact <version number>" directory. Find the file named upiExtractImage.dll and rename in to anything else (such as upiExtractImage.dll.bak). Note that while you could simply delete it instead, in case something goes wrong, this way you can just change it back to the original name.
The application doesn't appear to be adversely affected, and you won't see any further errors or lockups trying to work with UFO files in Explorer.
I believe this fix will work for either PI10 or PI11... I'm not sure about PI12.
Of course, this won't solve the other bizarre problems within the actual program that all seem to be Vista-related... I'm definitely looking forward to an update pack.

I'm glad I'm not the only one
I've been having the same problem, and I kept thinking there was something wrong with my computer. I formatted the entire drive trying to fix it....
I suspect this has something to do with the Vista filesystem, because if I copy the files to my flash drive (or any FAT32 drive for that matter) the thumbnails show up fine. But first you have to succeed in copying it over, and that's a pain in the arse. I actually did that from a second computer, over network shares.
Please fix this Ulead. I can't live without photoimpact!

Thankz SculptorOfRhythm, this task to rename the DLL resolved my problem. I got the update pack today and this is not resolved (Vista RC1 here) but now I can work very well with no problem... Its a good idea to have an voice from Ulead about this... we only talk with members and not the team at Ulead...
Someone using the final release of Vista and getting no trouble with the UFO files??
