Newbie...need help burning

Post by mgmken »

Quickly, got a new samsung digital video camera for Xmas. After recording, I would like to burn to a CD or DVD (as the camera brags about) but every time the file is wayyyy too big. Today I recorded for 9 minutes. I have saved that to my computer in .avi format using the ULEAD softwre. However, the file size says 12.8 GB. What the heck can I do with a file that is 12.8 GB. I cant save it on youtube, I cant burn it to anything.
How do these digital cameras work :?: ? I thought I was going to be able to put 45-60 minutes of video on a DVD, and the salesman thought I could put a ton of minutes on a normal CD?

What am I doing wrong??

Obviously Im a rookie  , so you techy's out there....if you could break it down step by step I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
