Reburning project?

Post by pawolf »

I have a project I burned a few months ago and reopen the project file how can I get he program to reburn the disk with the files already converted in the /cvtTitle folders with out re rendering the entire project?
It dosn't seem to be picking up the files already converted. I have had to reinstall the program so my custom project settings are gone.

Thanks,

You can try this -- copy your existing project to a new file name (and work on the copied project file -- just in case something goes wrong).

Before opening up the copied project, rename the original videos that were used in the project (if they are in a folder, then just rename the folder).

Now open the copied project -- a "relink" message should show up, and relink to the converted files (you might also have to add the corresponding audio files manually).

Is this normal behaviour? I f I stop and burn multiple copies at project creation time it uses the converted files. Why does this happen? Bug?
Thanks

I think you would have to burn/create an image if you want to go back later without having to convert the files again.

For these very reasons, I now burn an ISO image at creation time, in addition to burning the DVD itself. To make additional copies, I just use Nero (or whatever burning software you prefer) to burn copies from the ISO. Works perfectly.

Yes, if you simply want to burn future copies of the DVD, then creating the IMAGE file is an easy way to go.

I had thought the OP wanted to open an original project, make some tweaks (perhaps to the menus), then burn again -- but not have to wait through the entire Title conversion process.

If they want to burn a copy of an old DVD they created in DVDWS2.x, then they can copy the VIDEO_TS folder from the disc to their hard drive (put it in a folder that describes the DVD), and then from DVD WS 2.x go to the Finish step, and click that little icon with the hand over ISO letters -- this will allow you to burn a DVD from a disc image or from a DVD Folder...

UPDATE

Well I have tried unsuccesfully to complete this project. I have reencoded the final of 3 clips in MSP8 as there were a few glitches. But the project hangs at 89% from the ISO when burning in DWS??? I just read the prior posts and will try a burn of the iso from nero.

I Have DMF that came with MSP8, can I open the DWS project in DMF and retry in that?

thanks,

Unfortunately, DMF won't open DVDWS project files either...

There is also an option. Sorry I dont know at moment how its exactly named, but ist about: "Add converted files to project". If you switch on this option, dws will not rerender avi files to mpeg.
I personaly prefer "create folders" above iso image, since this gives me the option to manipulate the files before burning with tools like ifoedit, pgcedit, dvdsubedit...
If you need just a duplicate disk the fastest way could be to use nero (or other tools like instant copy) to copy the disk.
