Capture of VHS movies is of poor quality.

Post by Thousand »

I downloaded a trial copy of DVD MovieFactory 5 Plus. The VHS movie I am trying to copy is of excellent quality. When I play the tape before capture the audio and video are excellent in the capture window. When I click capture, the video is jerky and the audio is a little out of sync. I have an approved capture card and I close all programs in the system tray plus my screen saver before I start the capture.

The tape is VHS SP. I use a VCR connected to my capture card.My capture is a VIDEOADVANTAGEADX by Turtle Beach Video Advantage.

I have previously used Cyberlinks Power Director with some success but it is a clunky program, Power Director has been removed from my system. I really like the features and interafce of MovieFactory and would like to purchase it if I am able to get a good capture.

Any help you can give me will be appreciated.

You haven't told us what your approved capture card is.
I use a Hauppauge TV card for capturing from VHS.
The procedure is here:

When you capture, the video and audio in the preview window are choppy. However, when you have the video on your computer, the quality should be very good. Try capturing a few minutes and then view what you captured. The quality will be fine.
