Hi all. I've recently purchased video studio 10 and am only just getting into video editing, great fun! Hopefully some of you will be able to help me out a bit though as I am about as novice as they come! My only real question at this stage is how do I fade out an audio clip? As in about 5 seconds from the end how do I make it so it gets quieter and quieter? It has a fade out option but when I press it it doesn't do anything. One possible reason for this is I have only taken about 40 seconds from the audio clip and deleted the rest. Maybe the fade out option takes effect only at the end of the audio clip that was initially loaded on to Ulead? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
Jamie.

#1 Make sure you switch back to Project Mode (versus Clip Mode - just under Preview Window) to hear the changes.
#2 You can set the default audio fade in/out duration at File > Preferences > Edit tab.
#3 You can also adjust the volume when in Audio View. Just above the timeline are a line of icons. The third from the left is the Audio View icon. Click on it for more audio options.
Take a look at the manual for more detail (link below).
Happy editing.

You may find, as you immerse yourself more into editing (trust me, it will happen), that VideoStudio's audio controls leave a lot to be desired. You may want to look into alternatives as your expertise grows. I use Audacity. It's a great little program and it's free!

I think that's a long way off for me but thanks! How long have you been editing for? Do you do it professionally or is it more of a social thing? It's a shame I'm only just getting into it now; 3 years too late as I've just finished a degree in Criminology! Would have loved to have studied something relating to VE.

Fading Audio
In the audio mixing panel via audio view - play the project whilst adjusting the volume fader- or in audio view select the track in the time line then click a point on the rubber band to add a key frame then drag the line up or down to adjust the volume at that point, repeat as needed. The default duration for all clips is set in the edit tab of Preferences
Hope this helps. regards Ken
