Why do I have to keep logging on to this forum after turning off my PC even though I have the "log me on automatically" box ticked. It never used to do this?

Hi Phil

I have no problems, it logs in automatically as soon as i click the link.

I do not think its a forum issue, but your pc settings.

It is one of the changes made by Admin to try and cut down on the large amount of spam that keeps appearing on the user forum.
There have been 51 since 19 Jan 2007 - you haven't seen many I hope due to the work by the forum moderators.

Hi Steve / Phil

As I said, I have no problems.

I do not have the forum as my home page, but do have a link on my yahoo tool bar and favourites.
Hit the link and it opens in the Video Studio forum

No logging in.

If Admin have changed the login I haven¡¦t seen a difference

Regards

Trevor.

At work I have the forum as a Favorite link and I never have to login. At home I have it set as my homepage and sometimes I do have to login.

This is still happening. Is this something that is normal now and we have to live with.

If so then OK but I think the tick box "log me on automaticaly" is then a bit misleading.

IMHO, this forum, in general, has not worked correctly since it was hacked some months back. Since then we've had log in problems, double posts, error messages, PMs that stay in your outbox, incorrect characters being displayed, etc. They keep saying they are going to fix it, but it's been like this for months... :?

I have had one or two problems in the past 2 months but mostly it works ok.

Auto login just means that you don't have to login using your username/password when you want to post a message.

It obviously is stored within your web browser most likely using a 'cookie'. How do you have your cookie 'acceptance' set within your web browser? Check under Tools / Internet options / Privacy tab.

I'm afflicted with this log-on problem and I believe it may also be connected with a separate search "Search" problem. I select Search, enter a search term and the system correctly returns a list of threads featuring that term. I select and read one of those threads and then press the Explorer "Back" arrow. But instead of going back to the list of threads found by the search tool I get a Page Not Found-type page. Pressing the "Back" arrow again takes me back to the "Search" dialog, the entry field being empty.

I first encountered these problems years ago on another forum using the "phpBB"-type script. Did some research at that time which suggested that there was a bug in the phpBB system but I never found a conclusive answer. I've been a member of the Ulead forum for several years but it's only over the past few months that the problem has been encountered here. Incidentally, Mozilla Firefox works OK.

When you select one of the search returns, make sure you hold down the Shift key when you select it. That way it opens in a new window. Close that window and you are back to the Search results.

Reset all IE's settings to their default values, deleted the cache and restarted IE. Auto logon seems to work now ( have not logged off from the web yet though ). Now if only a read topic would display as such, and the submit button would not result in a 'preview' :?
