VS7: Can't delete end of video

I'm trying to edit a short video clip I captured from video tape. Using extract video, I was able to delete unwanted content from the start of the video, but I cannot, for the life of me, delete the last few seconds. I've used extract video many times before, and it's always produced exact edits. I've tried both retaining the marked areas, and deleting the marked areas, to no avail. Even marking the video on the main screen and using the save trimmed video option doesn't work. Any thoughts?

Stop trying to use all sorts of fancy editing - with the video in your timeline use the 'Scissor' icon to cut the video at the point you want it to end - then click on the bit to the RIGHT of the cut so that it is highlighted - hit the delete key on your keyboard - "Share >> Create VideoFile " - finished
