How Do You Do That?
Good Morning All,
In some commercial movies and many times in TV Documentary's, the History channel, a title
page will appear telling the viewer what is upcoming in the film. This usually starts at the bottom of your TV screen and scrolls upward toward the top and then disappears as more printing appears on the bottom.
You also will see this effect many times at the end of a movie. Usually shown on a black screen with white printing as the "Movie Credits". Can someone teach me how to do this effect from within VS10?

please read this thread :-
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=15769
or in more detail :-
Click on 'Title' tab at top of screen
Double click in preview screen - type lines of text hitting the 'return' key at the end of each line until you have all lines entered.
from the information panel above the right end of the timeline - choose the "Animation" tab
put a tick in the box "Apply Animation"
In the box against "Type" choose "Fly"
Choose the first preset option if you want to scroll up or the 7th if you want to scroll down
JOB DONE
don't forget that the speed of scroll is set by the length of the sequence - ie if you have 20 names and only allow 10 seconds they will scroll up at the rate of 2 per second whereas for 20 names you should allow a minimum of 20 seconds if you expect people to read the text that is.

Hi Brian
As usual ,your 100%! Thanks for the help. Would you like to tackle one more?
In the Demo Clip that comes with Installed VS10 there is a shot of a skier.
The next shot shows four different pictures, all at one time. I’d like to produce
this effect also.
If you don’t remember or cannot find it I can send a screen shot of it. But ….I don’t know if the forum will support?

Can't say I remember that particular sequence but from your description - to acheive that effect I would simply open up four overlay tracks and put one picture/video in each track - then resize and position each picture and place in whatever sequence you desire to have them appearing/disappearing/staying for as long as you want.
Don't forget to put something video/still in the top track as a background

Yes Sir! You got it!
And while you're there and you please teach me how you put that pciture to the forum????
I freuently have problems (new user here) you Gentlemen do great with your help and support but I think it would be easier at times to show you the problem rather that trying to describe it!
Along the lines of one picture is worth a 1,000 Words, Brian

The first and major requirement for posting a picture in these forums is a website somewhere that you can post your pictures - not necessarily a private paid for website but propably one of the free sites which many ISPs allow you to show photos to your friends - this is necessary so that the image is available worldwide at any time - if you link to an image on your PC we will only see it when your PC is online.
Having posted your picture you then locate it on the web and rightclick on it and choose 'properties' this will allow you to see the URL for the image - in the case I just posted that is http://mysite.orange.co.uk/briansphotos ... icture.jpg
You can just post that URL and if you click on that link of mine now you will be able to see the picture in another form
but if you wish to post in it in these these forums - while typing a reply click on the 'Img' button and should appear in your typing imediately after the URL - now when you submit you should see your picture
It is often better to use the 'Preview' option first to make sure you have the correct syntax.

Thanks Brian,
While you were gone I got lost!
I am working on an animated title page and all was going well except that
now that title material is appearing way to fast for what I want. Here is a cut & paste from the help section:
Playback Speed
You can modify the playback speed of your videos. Set your video in slow motion to emphasize a movement, or set it to play at lightning speed and give your movie a comical air. Simply adjust the speed attributes for your video clip by clicking Playback Speed under the Options Panel of the Edit Step. Drag the slider according to your preferences (i.e., slow, normal or fast), or enter a value. The higher the value you set, the faster the playback of your clip. (Values range from 10-1000%). You can also specify a set duration for the clip in Time stretch. Click Preview to view the results of your settings then click OK when finished.
Brian, I have no clue where this Options Panel is under Editing. Everything is fine it’s just that the printing is flying into the clip way to fast. I am missing something here but what? Can I slow it down to match the time frame I currently have set for it, 7 seconds?

Stretch the time for your title - in the timeline click on it and move the right end handle to the right - the longer you make it the slower the text will rise.
If you have seven lines of text in a time of seven seconds each line will appear one per second - seven lines of text need about 21/28 seconds and pro-rata for more text lines
It is not to do with playback speed - that is only for videos
That did not work Brian.
All that happenend was the total screen stayed on longer in whole or as soon as the printing finished. The speed of the letters remained that same, too fast.
There is a "TT" on the animaton section and you can choose "user defined" but then nothing happens? What am I missing here? There has got to be a way to slow the appearance of these letters down, but how?

we seem to be missing something somewhere because it works for me and many others in these forums.
having typed your lines of text - did you choose the 'Animation' tab from the information panel above the right hand end of the timeline - then click to tick "Apply Animation" - in the drop down choose 'Fly' then select the first preset - maybe time for another picture - hang on

Brian,
I used fade the first time and used drop this time and that seems to have slowed it down a bit.
Right next to this box is the TT letters I am speaking of. If you click inside they give you a choice of display patterns with Characters being first. I tried using the user defined but got nowhere???????????????????????
