Audio out of sync with video

Post by dennisgbeau »

I'm using ULEAD Video Studio 6, I'm am trying assemble 23 short video of the kids which I have captured off VHS tapes. They run between 3min. and 11min. each.
They were captured with ULEAD Movie Factory 3SE and they are all in sync. I want to create a DVD but I need to collect all twenty three (23) files into the Storyboard then I either highlight each one and proceed to create a new MPG file containing all 23 files or I can join them. I've tried both methods and the same result, they all have the video out of sync, the speech is lagging behing the video.
The other problem that occurs occasionally between 67% and 77% I get an unforseen error caused by MCMPGDEC.DLL.

My system
Windows ME
40Gb HD
Gigabyte MB 7ZX
512 Mb Ram

Any info would be appreciated

Welcome to the forums Dennis,

Editing MPEG can be done, however it is very tricky. MPEG was intended to be a distribution format, not editing. The reason, it is more highly compressed.

First check the video file properties, you might jot them down. Then change your project properties to match that of your video file. Now maintain that through completion to DVD. However keep in mind that what you are experiencing (OOS), is common with editing highly compressed video formats. If you are needing a better understanding as to why, try searching on " video Formats, or editing video", and you will find a copious amount of reading that will probably confuse the hell out of you..:) Here's a read that may be able to explain why this happens..http://www.tomshardware.com/1999/09/24/ ... de_part_3/

Here are some articles/tutorials found on this web board:

You might want to read through From Camcorder to DVD tutorial.

You might want to review Steve's tutorial on Creating a Video Editing Profile.

A Recommended Workflow has been developed to help guide you through the mine-field of video editing, as it pertains to Ulead's VideoStudio Programs. They can be viewed here:
