Sony HDV-HC1 is not able to be openned in MovieFactory 5 plu

Problem 1
When I choose advanced settings in Capture video for capturing HDV and select HDV 1394 Device Control in the Device Control box I get a message that the Device Control Manager is unable to open the specified device. The camera is connected, appears as an AV/C multifunction device in the computers device manager, is recognised by MF5 as a DV source and I can preview the camera content in the preview window.
Problem 2
When I scroll over the Capture Video Format box all DVD options are set for NTSC. There are no options for PAL. Chosing any option and trying to capture crashes the capture. I can only capture in AVI format at the moment
Am I going to have problems all the way through working out how to use this software or do I just give up and try another software package - quit before I go crazy? I purchased this software because I was led to believe that HDV quality footage would result in a higher quality finished product.

To be able to capture HD Video in any of the Ulead Products the HC1 must be set to HDV or Auto and the iLink conversion must be off. If you are able to preview video in MF5 your camera iLink conversion is probably on.
