Menus mis-aligned after output to NTSC

Post by Nick G »

I have been using VS8 set up for PAL.
I have recently needed to send a DVD to relations in the US.
Having selected the output for NTSC, created NTSC mpeg2 files and gone through the share step (having selected NTSC again in preferences) everything looks OK on the preview step ie menus all work and chapter start at the selected points.
The resulting disc appears OK apart from the chapter points being mis-aligned resulting in the menus taking you to incorrect points - all looks a bit amateurish. Anyone else experience and solved this?

Thanks, Nick

The answer is yes and yes.
I did a very similar exercise - to send a DVD to some friends in the US, I "loaded" a previously constructed DVD (note: it imports in segments), added chapters and menu, and proceeded to burn. I had the same result - the chapter points were way off.
Afterwards I tried again; this time I rendered the segments in the timeline to a single, contiguous video file. Then loaded that finished video file into the burning module, added chapters, menu etc and burned. Result: perfect.
There's a lesson there somewhere
