installing fantasy warp and particle plugins

Post by jet »

I am trying to install the fantasy warp and particle plugins.

I click on the exe file, tell it ok and then it just says finish. It doesn't do anything.

I do get a question about letting the program run and I say "yes" but I don't believe it is doing so.

How do I get them to install properly?

Thank you very much.

Question: Are you logged into the computer as a user with Administrator rights? If not, please do so...

After the initial screen where you click Yes and Finish, there normally is a pause and the install shield program then runs and the actual installation begins.

What are you running for firewall/anti-virus/anti-spyware/security programs? On occasion these will interfere with installation. Disabling these first may help. (Unplug your PC from the internet first!)

That's all I can suggest based on the information you have provided.

Please also complete your system information in your profile - this info can be of use to diagnose issues from time to time. Thanks! :)

Hi, Robert,

I updated my profile for the system info.

kerio firewall, nod32 antivirus, counterspy

Maybe I didn't wait long enough but the install shield never appeared?

I can try turning everything off.

I didn't get to tell it where to install or anything.

Thank you, jet

Thanks, Jet...

Just make sure you're logged in with Admin rights, unplug from the internet and disable all security software and try again. It should not take too long for the actual installation program to appear. What you have seen running so far unpacks everything and should be launching the actual installer after you click Finish. Even on a slow PC this doesn't take very long.

Let us know how you make out. Good luck!

Hi, Robert,

I turned off everything but the firewall.

They still won't install. The wowexec.exe file for installing win16 programs locks up and won't run so the plugins don't get installed.

So, that is that. They had installed a long time ago. But now they won't.

Thanks for your help.

Decided against also unplugging from the internet and disabling the firewall?

Perhaps try Ulead technical support...

Hi, Robert,

Do you think the firewall was the problem? I had the internet off.

Some firewalls have other annoying security features in them besides blocking things from the outside... I'm not familiar with Kerio's firewall, but it never hurts to try. For example, packages from ZoneAlarm and F-Secure have system monitoring features that sometimes keep programs from launching other programs.

Hi, Robert,

You were correct!

I turned everything and the firewall off and they installed.

Thank you very much for your patience and help.
