Character encoding when adding title?
Hi... I am new in this video editing but I ve spent allready alot of time reading / watching tutorials... and also i ve made few short movies...
As for now i ve found solution for every problem, but this one is really bugging me for a while...
When adding title it wont let me use croatian letters, even though font usually (ms word for ex.) have them.
I am not sure which keywords to use when I am searching a forum / google, but i ve tried many... no answer found though.
I am guessing there is somewhere some option to change encoding or maybe to download some patch or something but cant figure it out by myself.
Please help.
(using VS9)

Actually Steve is on the right track for you. First rule of thumb in video editing, is never rely on one product to do "all". With that, try also Movie Maker that comes with Windows XP for titles. Works great, just use it as an overlay..
I'd list all the software I use, but, there isn't enough room on the internet.

I am aware that there is no perfect software, also I know I cannot expect from one program to do "all", as you say...
But, I expect from it do all basic stuff, I am not some crazy editor making movie magic... I just wanna have title with croatian letters... I mean, thats not something revolutionary, microsoft word and bunch of other programs dont have problems with that...
I am still sure that there must be something in the settings or w/e... Tnx guys for trying to help, but I am still not satisfied...

Hi all.
Im having the same problem but with the brazilian-portuguese caracters.
In my language I need to use ^ and ~ accents frequently and Videostudio never can put this caracters in the right way.
follow examples:
- Ever I try to put this word: "você" (means "you"), the Videostudio puts wrong caracter (see the image below)
- And ever I try to put: "mão" (means "hand"), Videostudio puts wrong caracter (see the image below)
I dont use this caracters in my language, in the printscreen you can see how Videostudio put the caracters (i have to put here like a picture because phpBB dont put this caracters here in text way.)

I already tryed to change in all configurations files and Visualstudio program but with no success.
I tried to use ascII codes and no success too.
If anybody knows the solution I would be apreciate the help.
Thanks a lot all.

What happens if you create the words in MS Word, then cut (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) to VideoStudio? Does it show the proper characters then?

As I just said in another thread a couple of days ago, for Western European language accent marks, I use ANSI symbols, not ASCII. And I do a lot of Portuguese, so know them well! (And they work perfectly well in Video Studio titles -- I just tested that yet again, using VS11+.)
For ANSI, you hold down the ALT key on your keyboard, and at the same time type a series of 4 numbers on the numeric keypad on the right hand end of a standard keyboard.
Examples are ALT+0227 produces ã; ALT+0234 = ê
Do a Google search for ANSI symbols for the rest. But as I say, they are for Western European languages. I am pretty sure these do not include the Central European diacritical marks such as those used in Croatian or Czech.

Hi
It's apparently a Bug of VS .
Ken Berry is right but probably he is using an US keyboard '
You can get portugueses characters using ALT #### but only if you choose " English US Keyboard " in the control pannel before running VS .
See for this another thread "character problem and videostudio 11 " and the posts of "svuppe"
