Split by Scene

Hi Bryan

I decided to start a new post regarding Split by Scene

Please take note of the replies from the last post.

Trevor...is there any way to batch change these 50+ file names to a sequential numbering system? For example, my one captured video file is called "Trip to Disney World". When captured to a single file, VS assigns its date name. I change this one file to "Trip to Disney World". Then I do a Split by Scene and get 53 video files, all with the same exact name "Trip to Disney World.AVI". Is there a way to batch change the names of all 53 video files so that the end result is Trip to Disney World001, Trip to Disney World002, etc.?
The simple answer is NO. After Split by Scene each virtual clip is a segment of the original. The virtual clip has only one source file, and therefore one name.

In fact each Split by Scene clip is the full original clip with the beginning and ends trimmed.
Yep that¡¦s what I said.

Take any split by scene clip, place in the timeline on its own.. Click to select--- now drag the yellow trim bars to increase size. Keep going until you cannot move the bars any more. You will have to change the timeline zoom to view the full clip.

Eventually you will end up with the original video file, before Split by Scene.

Works equally as well from the library.

Ok

As we are on the Split By Scene subject. After splitting a file, I decided I did not want to work with these files and the full original will do.
I delete all the clips from the library and timeline.
I started a new project. Now I insert the original video file from the hard drive.

Try it! Does it load as a single file :?:

As long as you're asking..... NO! It keeps reloading as a split file.

Very annoying.

Hi melk

If you want to use the video file as whole.

You will have to re-name the file on the hard drive.
But if you are using it in another project then you will lose the links there..

I do not know of any other easy way.

To open the clip as one long video (after you have already split by scenes), try this:

Rt-click on the timeline, Insert Video. Locate the file, and Left click on the video in question, then on the right hand side hit the SCENES button. Then uncheck the box for Open scenes as multiple clips in Timeline.

You¡¦re a star.

Always something new to learn, never looked at the Open Video File box in detail.

It doesn¡¦t appear that you have to insert video, can be done from an empty timeline.

Brilliant
