Hi,
I wondered if anyone has had or had more success in playing back HDDVD burnt to a DVDR. I have a wedding project that is longer that 5 minutes created in MF and then burnt via Nero. I have tried other disks but the same point 5m13s then player just stopped.
Tried other footage and still the same problem.
Tried PC hddvd software same problem stops at same point. E1 Toshiba same thing
any suggestions?

HDDVD on DVDR will not play more than 5m15 secs on Toshiba

How do you burn the HD DVD folder made by DVDMF ?
When you burn the HD DVD folder to DVD disk, remember to burn the data disk with UDF 2.5 file system....

I am using Nero 7 following instructions other people have written.
Using xbox compatability mode. DVD-ROM(UDF).
Its strange in run perfctly for 5 minutes, then just stops.....I tested where it stops on the footage and moved the pointers and re burnned the footage played fine, then stopped at 5mins 13 secs again.

When you burn the DVD in Nero, you should not use the XBOX Compatible Mode to burn. You should select the Manual Settings option in the UDF file system tab and then switch the file system version to UDF 2.5 then burn your HD DVD folders onto the DVD disk.
If you are using Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5 Plus, you can select Audio/Data disc->Data disc in the DVDMF 5 Launcher to start Ulead Burn. Now 4.0 and drag the HD DVD folders into the Data disc panel, then clicks on the Burn button to invoke the Burning Options dialog. In that dialog you can change the File system setting to UDF 2.5 then clicks on Burn to burn the folders to disk.
Before you burn the folders to a DVD-R disk, use a DVD RW disk to try it out.
Reminder: when you burn the HD DVD folders that are generated by DVDMF 5, remember to include both ADV_OBJ and HVDVD_TS folders into the data disk project to burn. Some HD DVD players will not play HD DVD folders/disks if the ADV_OBJ folder is not existed in the disk. HD DVD players will play the disk when the ADV_OBJ folder is an empty one. If you do not see the ADV_OBJ folder, create an empty one by yourself in the burning project.
Hope this helps.

Taking your comments on board I got my DVD+RW to work at last. It seems to be the issue with formatting the disc completely with UDF 2.5 and mirror metadata.
I formatted the disc first and then wrote the data, (which formatted again for some reason) and it played fine all the way through.
I dound these steps below from another site which confirms your information as well.
Many thanks and we look forward to the pro version being able to record to HDDVD with the interactive menus etc.
Here are the steps:
1 Launch Disc Tools > Format Disc?application and insert a DVD-RW disc in to DVD burner
6. Format DVD-RW disc to UDF 2.5, select full format?and mirror UDF metadata?options
7. Launch audio/Data Disc > Data Disc?application
8. Add DV_OBJ?and HVDVD_TS?to disc and burn disc
9. Copy DVD-RW to DVD-R is desired.

hello
Until thère will be realy easy way to to all that hd dvd or blue ray stuff I found a realy easy way to watch my sony hc1 hd camcorder outputs:
I've recently bought a laptop (hp 9000series) that I use for 2 pupuses
1-hd simple editing with VS10plus t
2-his pc includes a good videocard with hdmi output that can be connected to any hd flat panel plasma hd TV ( I prefered myself to view it with a video hd projector (very bright pana PTAX100) and project on a prepared DYI wall (3.6 m base) . The result is quite unbeleavable (projected a concert : video+audio : for my friends for a test the result is stunning);
this solution is very versatile , A computer has also many ather thigs to do with ( with the exception of cofee and fried eggs)You can watch this way whatever kind of HD video format (mpeg-hd wmv-hd or Div x hd)
This solution is an easy way to profit. I stock my huge video on an USB 300G external hd (the cheapest per méga solution for the moment )
