Video Studio 10 Security Error

Post by nancyc15 »

I've been using the trial version of VideoStudio 10 for about 3 days, and suddenly it gives me this "Security Error: The security information has been changed. This program will now terminate." (Or something like that. I can't remember the exact words it used.) So I uninstall and reinstall. I double click, it gives me the death message and won't open. So I do a system restore to just befoe I downloaded it. I redownload, reinstall, and it works like a charm for 24 hours then gives the same message and refuses to open. Why is it doing this? How can I stop it? If this is going to be a problem wih the full version of the program, then I won't buy it.

That might because some tools in your system keep removing the anti-pirate settings of UVS trial. Those tools might include registry repair tool or antivirus softwares.

Do you still remember what steps did you do in your system or what software did you run before it went broken?

This error is normally due to an attempt to remove the 30 day limit of the free trial. Doing so normally results in you losing whatever you have left of that free trial, so in the quest to get more you get less.

Will the problem still persist in the full version of the program?

I don't think it's related with UVS, sorry I cannot help if you cannot provide more info.

Not in this case as I haven't any idea how to remove the 30 day limit or any desire to do so. I'm really just trying to see if the software will serve my purpose.

Nancy,

Did you run any antivirus, spyware, adware, registry repair programs recently?

Or do you have any anti-virus or anti-spyware that runs automatically at startup?

Get "autoruns.exe" free software that tells you all the stuff that runs at startup.

As far as I remember, I was working with UVS then I surfed (mozilla - firefox) and checked e-mail shut off the machine. The next day, I tried to open UVS and I got the message. I use Norton anti-virus and I did a spyware sweep after getting the security message to no avail. I uninstalled UVS and redownloaded thinking I could start fresh. That didn't work so I went back to a restore point and that worked for a bit (maybe a day) then the message reappeared. Now the message appears when windows boots up and it seems to only affect opening U-Lead. I assure you, I have not tried to abuse the trial period. This set in after maybe 3 or 4 days.

Hmm - webroot spysweeper updates automatically. I did a sweep after the message appeared thinking spyware had entered my system. The infamous "about blank" showed up and was removed. I have norton ant-virus but it isn't set for automatic as far as I know. I'll investigate both of these things. Do you think the spysweeper may be disabling something that UVS needs to work properly? I hesitiate to move beyond the trial version until I know if my system is up to the task!

Please complete your System Information in your profile. Clicking on this button -->Image will take you to a short tutorial, explaining how to find and complete that information. This way it will always be available, and will save you from retyping it in the future.

We will be able to help you determine if your system would be up to the task.

VS10 System Requirements

However unless you are going to be editing HD (High-Def) video, then the P4 3.0 Ghz processor is not required.

Having read a bunch of posts about the VS10+ SP1 update, there seems to be agreement that the update itself has a problem. I've been running VS10+ for quite a while with few problems, and I installed the update because it is my practice to do so. Then I got the security announcement and VS wouldn't start. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. It ran, but something was definitely haywire - importing a video from disk gave results I hadn't seen before and was surely not correct. So I did a full uninstall and will reinstall today. Hopefully, it will work.

I am writing to say that I am disappointed that an update is available that causes a lot of trouble for some users.
