I asked this question in the Yahoo MUG, but it dropped like a lead balloon. No replies. Apologies to those users who may have seen it there already... I've upgraded from MSP6 to MSP8 and see a distinct difference in how the jog bar behaves:
----------
I just have a quick question about the jog bar in the Source Window for MSP8. In MSP6, the jog bar was a dial, and when I used it, the source video would play at 2x, 4x, 8x, etc., smoothly, and the audio would "pitch up" accordingly to match the faster playback. It behaved like "virtual" magnetic tape.
In my version of MSP8, the jog bar doesn't behave so smoothly anymore. The playback is choppier, not smooth (again, this is for the Source, not Preview, Window) and the audio stays at the correct pitch, although it stutters to match the faster play speed, i.e. every other syllable or word is skipped.
Is this how it behaves for everyone? I'm just wondering because I only have MSP6 to compare it to.

Have you checked about this?
Hope this helps.
Sorry I cannot help more because I do not have MSP 8 installed in my system now.

Re: Jog Bar Question
On my system, MSP8 (with SP1) works the same way (regarding the audio staying at "normal" pitch, but skips words to match the video).golem95 wrote:In my version of MSP8, the jog bar doesn't behave so smoothly anymore. The video appears to be smooth when using 2x/4x/8x etc...
I don't have any earlier versions of MSP installed on my computer to check how it worked with them...

Re: Jog Bar Question
Okay, perhaps that's just the way it works now. It's alright, but I guess I miss the "digital analog" style of MSP6. Thanks.GeorgeW wrote: On my system, MSP8 (with SP1) works the same way (regarding the audio staying at "normal" pitch, but skips words to match the video).

Just to throw a reply in here, LOL, I only have MSP8 never used anything earlier.. Umm, so, I guess I missed what it was like to use older versions, or, did I get a better version and not learn older bad habbits?
From what I have read, even the earlier vesions was great, I am so happy with this software, I actually started a company recently just because I know this software will do what I want it to do, and that is make people happy with videos I make for them.

Right. The only reason I asked the question was because I have MSP6 on my old machine... a Pentium 3 Win98 machine... but I have MSP8 on my newer machine, P4, WinXP, etc. In my opinion, the jog bar worked very nicely on the older machine, and I would have expected it to be even better on the the newer version with the new machine. It didn't seem to, so I just wondered if it was my hardware setup or just the way the software works now.
