vs9 won't install images into menu

Post by Klaus Christo »

This has happened to me before and I can't remember how I got around it.
Perhaps it has something to do with my memory, although I have 1gb it may not be enough because my computer suddenly told me it doesn't have enough virtual memory, so I quickly saved and closed vs but when I reopened the project all my details in the menu were gone because it kept saying that the files had changed and do I want to relink with another.
The main menu was still there just not the sub menus. Also, some pictures it would install and other not, perhaps something to do with the size of the picture.

Yes I would say it does have something to do with your memory, if you can't remember...:)

Virtual Memory is different then Physical memory or RAM. Virutal memory is referring to your Page File or what is known as Swap file. Is your Page File setup for your OS to manage or have you setup a special page file? Is it on the same drive as your OS or another? If it is not system managed, what size do you have it set for, Minimum and Maximum?

Try to clear your Temp Folders, which will free things up.

You are asking about relinking menus, are these menus built in the DVD authoring module?

If so you may have to rebuild them since the program did crash. What you are seeing is what the program had already saved (if you have it set to automatically save every x_minutes). The size is not the problem on if the program will or will not load them. They may have been corrupted in the crash, or most likely just the links to them.

I suppose it could also depend on the format of the images. Are they common or garden variety JPGs, BMPs etc, or some special variety?

As far as RAM is concerned, 1 GB is more than enough. As Ron says, the msg you are receiving has more to do with your page file, how big it is and possibly where it is located. Also what other programs you might still have running in the background while using VS9...

And when you are asked if you want to Relink the programme is NOT asking you to relink to a different file - it is simply saying that VideoStudio has lost track of the file it was using (can happen for a variety of reasons) - and you should browse to the file it is telling you it can't find and RE_LINK to the file you were using - not a different one.

yes Brian, but unfortunately the big problem is that the program looses all the information about that file, ie all the work I did on that chapter, and it thinks its a modified file, which it isn't.
