My English is very bad, so i try short to explain my problem.
5 TS-files from the Dreambox 7025. (satellite reciever)
Edit with Mpeg2VCR, saved as mpeg program stream.
(mpeg-2 Video, upper field First - 24bits, 704x576, 16:9 - 25 frames/sec -
Variabe bit rate max 2700kbps - mpegaudio layer2 - 48khz 16bit stereo - 192kbps)
MF5.0 TBYB installed from a CD of a friend.
Made a project with text-menu, no chaptermenu and no effects.
I try mo made DVD-folders to disk. Size 5.63 (6.04)mb.
MF tels me:
"This project exeeds the maximum project size.
Do you want to reduce the project size?
Click Yes to fit, No to continu, or Cancel to abord."
I choose for no (continu) and the result fits without
problems on a DVD.
I was not so happy with some strange things in the menu,
and download the last version of MF5.3+.
I made exact the same project as in MF5.0.
Now he tells me that the filesize wil be more than 14GB!
When i now try to made DVD-folders to disk, MF tels me:
"The total size is larger than the chosen project. You can:
1)Press Yess to try to fit
2)Oress NO to go back...."
There is no longer an option to continu anyway.
Wat is happening Here?
(I'm a happy user from MF3LE with a PVR250 & 350 from hauppauge,
and ih happens frequently that he tels that the project is to big,
and fits anyway on the DVD)
Regards, Mark, Belgium.
Project to big in MF5.3+, was no problem in MF5.0
The final file size is determined by the bitrate (video and audio combined) and the time duration of the program.
Bitrate is measured as kilobits per second. You can see how this scales-up to megabytes per hour.
Here is a link to a Bitrate Calculator.
So, it looks like Movie Factory is re-coding the MPEG video to a higher bitrate, and possibly converting the audio from MPEG to (uncompressed) LPCM.
Check the box that says Do Not Convert Compliant MPEGs. If Movie Factory still wants to convert the file, change your Project Settings the match the bitrate and audio format of the original MPEG file.
P.S.
Please excuse my inability to speak Flemish or French.
Thank's for telling us where you live. It tells us what video standard you are using (PAL) and it's just plain fun to chat with people around the world!

Thanks for responding, I speak Flemish.
I dit some more experiments with MF5.0 & MF5.3+, and this is what I find out:
When I in MF5.0 chek the box "do not convert compilant mpeg", he wil ignore the
"mpeg properties for file conversion", even when it is necessary to convert something,
he will just convert what is necessari to made the file compilant.
In my opinion, it's the way it should be, and it works very well.
In MF5.3+ he will always use the settings from "mpeg properties for file conversion"
when it is necessary to convert something, and that is very irritating.
And he will not save the "customize" settings.
I dit a test with 1 file from 803Mb (mpeg-2 Video, PAL, upper field First - 24bits, 704x576, 16:9 - 25 frames/sec -
Variabe bit rate max 2700kbps - mpegaudio layer2 - 48khz 16bit stereo - 192kbps)
with no menu's.
In MF5.0 it takes 42seconds to convert the file (what is he convert?).
In MF5.3+ it takes 55 minutes to convert the same file.
(Video/Audio multiplexing 50 sec. and Finalizing VOB 25sec in both versions)
"mpeg properties for file conversion" are set identical as the original file.
So, till this moment MF5.0+ sucks for me, completely useless.
