Activating TBYB

Post by skier-hughes »

I need to activate a TBYB eversion of MF5 from a school network system using a proxy server.

I log in as admin and install the programme ok.
It can be used in it's trial state.
It will not contact Ulead to activate.
The Schools IT department have looked into it and say that no messages from MF are leaving the programme, so it isn't contacting Ulead to get activated.
They ran several tests and couldn't find anything in their system which would be blocking it.

What protocol does MF use to contact Ulead
What port does it use?
Is the server causing problems?

I downloaded the TBYB from the Ulead ftp site and burnt it to disc. Just in case the disc was missing something, I installed it on my office pc and it immediately contacted Ulead and the activation code given for my personal use was accepted.

I have several codes to use on several pc's, so that the pupils can all use MF5, but so far I'm stuck on the teachers pc and can't give her any lessons in how to use it properly yet.

I was in the middle of talking to the product team about this, but email communication dried up!!

Maybe this would help.

Can the school IT network to be configured to connect to the Internet without a proxy server? If it can, I would suggest to do so.

Thanks HT.
I don't think they can do it apart from using the proxy server.
I've alreay been through the FAQ, and the IT chaps have cleared the way for the app to get through the network, firewall etc, but they cannot detect any outgoing signal from MF.
