Inserting DVD/DVD-VR into project

Post by papayakiller »

Down on the timeline there's a little folder and an option to insert more video or even insert DVD/DVD-VR. When I click the DVD option a dialog pops up for me to find a video folder - VIDEO_TS or DVD_RTAV. I found VIDEO_TS folder and choose it but the "OK" box continues to stay grayed out and won't let me insert that video. I know there are files there. They are .vob files from a DVD. These are the correct video files, right? Is this just a bug in VS8 or am I doing something wrong?

FYI The same thing happens to me in Movie Wizard.

I once had the same problem. Is your VIDEO_TS folder on the hard drive or are you reading it from a DVD? If it is on a DVD then you MAY have a DVD R/W firmware problem. The DVD writer may not support the media you have in the drive. In my case it was a mini DVD that the R/W could not handle.

I've tried getting to the VIDEO_TS folder from my hard drive and the actual DVD - neither one worked.

Everything else with Ulead and my DVD burner works - except this one thing. I can rip .vob files and play them on my computer.

So is this firmware problem fixable or not? Where can I look for more information on this, does anyone know?

Thanks!

If you can copy the VIDEO_TS folder from the disc to the hard drive, then are unable to then import to VS then it is not a firmware problem. A firmware problem would mean that you couldn't copy the folder across to your hard drive in the first place. Have you applied all the relevant patches to your software? Also, the DVD you are copying from may have errors so VS can't import and even if you copy it to the hard drive it still can't import because the errors are copied as well. You can go to this site and download a small free utility that will check the disc for you if you want http://www.e-systems.ro/ It is a stand alone program so it doesn't install anywhere called emsa diskcheck.

Yes, I have all the pathes installed for VS8. I downloaded the small program you suggested and will see if that says anything. Other than that, I'm just going to chalk it up to some freakin' bug that's only affects me. LOL

Hi,
The files are either CopyProtected or the correct files aren't there in
the directory.
