DVD Recording Speed
My PictureShow is always written at 16X. I'm trying to write at a lower speed. I change the speed setting in PictureShow to a lower rate but it always tells me it's recording at 16X. I also went to MY Computer and changed the properties for the DVD writer to a lower speed but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Thanks !

I'm sure that, somewhere in your settings, you also have selected "Burn at max speed".
Do you have problems with your DVD's burned at that speed? The max speed is determined by the media used. If you had a DVD blank rated at 4x your burn speed would also be at 4x. I'm sure you are using 16x DVD blanks and your settings stipulate max speed somewhere.

Your correct, some where there is a setting for either max or 16x but I haven't found it yet. The reason I wanted to try writing the DVD at a slower speed is that I can't copy the burned DVD using Roxio. I get a write failure of some kind and it seems to occur at the same physical place on the DVD. The original DVD plays the slideshow fine with no apparent problems. So when I burn the DVD, I set the count higher than one to get as many DVD's that I need. All of the burned DVD's play the sideshow without problems too. I guess I thought it would be easier to copy the original DVD with Roxio then to burm multiple copies at burn time.

Hi Archie,
As far as I know, the only provision for adjusting your write speed is accessed via the "Options" button located in the lower left quad of the "3 Burn" UI. When you open the "Options" UI and select the down-arrow next to "Recording Speed" you should see a dropdown with a full range of speed options.
Be sure to insert your blank media and select the correct recording drive in the "3 Burn" tab BEFORE adjusting the recording speed. This is necessary because PS4 assumes CD media (not DVD) until the actual blank DVD media has been recognized.
Hope that helps

BTW, just for my own info, which version of Roxio EMC are you using? I've noticed that Versions 7, 7.5 and 8 can sometimes be a bit finnicky when copying burned DVD media. I sometimes find better compatibility with the copy utility of Ulead "MovieFactory 4/5 Plus" or "Intervideo DVD Copy 5 Platinum".
