Size problem

I tried to burn a DVD that I authored today, but I kept getting a message that said the folder on my C drive didn't have enough space. How could that be? The folder was empty, and there's plenty of space on the C drive. I figured that it must have meant the blank DVD. The projected space it would take up on the DVD is 6.38 GB, and I don't understand how that could be.

I started with a relatively short movie (1 hour 39 minutes) that I had recorded with my DVD recorder. I tried to trim it with MF, but even though I followed the instructions to the letter multiple times, the facts are, it doesn't work at all. I only needed to trim 24 seconds from the start of the movie and about 10 seconds from the end, but it wouldn't trim even 1/10 of a second from the video. Anyway, I opened it with VideoReDo and trimmed it, but the VideoReDo Joiner program doesn't work. The help file referenced some commands that don't exist in the program.
Process / Save Joiner List As ...: Select this option to create a new video program file from the segments listed in the joiner project.
I tore the program apart over and over and over, but there are no such commands.

But this board is about MF. I finally concatenated the files using MF, but when I try to burn them, they are much bigger than the original file. And much to big to fit on a DVD.

I can't shrink them using DVDShrink. It keeps telling me I'm missing the VIDEO_TS.IFO file. Even when I import one, it won't read the file. What do I have to do to get these files down to a size I can burn on a single DVD?

Thanks,

i am having sort of the same problem, all though im not having any problems trimming video...im having problems getting good quality when capturing....anything that is good quality is too big to fit on a DVD-R and everything 4.7gb or below turns out looking like crap for me. i cant find the right capture settings...its starting to get very frustrating.
