I have a Plextor convertx PX-TV402U and video studio 7 and they work fine together. So I upgraded to studio 10 ....now it doesn't work. From reading this forum I see that some programs will only work if they came with the equipment. Why didn't ulead keep the tweek for plextor in their program?
Did I waste my money or can this be resolved?
Thanks for any help.

You have things around the wrong way. Plextor itself would have done the tweaking of VS7 to work with their device. In other words, it is Plextor which insisted on keeping its own processes proprietary and secret. Ulead is probably not given the code by Plextor to include the tweak in its own commercial versions. Why didn't ulead keep the tweek for plextor in their program?
You can still capture using VS7 and simply open the files for editing in VS10. Lots of us here use a variety of programs throughout the whole editing/authoring process. I for instance, usually capture using a dedicated DV capture program called WinDV. Then I edit in VS10+, and produce my DVD-compliant mpeg-2. Then I will use either Movie Factor 5+, or more recently DVD Workshop 2.0 to author the disc. Using Workshop, I tend to produce a DVD folder rather than a disc. And I burn that folder multiple times using Nero.
The only other option I can think of is to approach Plextor for their latest offering. This is what is on their current website:
Hey big spenders, Plextor!!For a limited time only, Plextor is bundling, free of charge, Ulead VideoStudio 8 SE DVD video editing and DVD creation software.
