Importing DVD files

Post by arnonm »

Hi,

I have just tried to import a short clip from the DVD into VideoStudio 10.0
I used the standard method - Import from DVD (as described in the tutorial).
However, what I got (after a few hours of waiting) was thousands of jpg files, each representing a frame in the movie :(
A bug, or could have I done something wrong.

Alas, I tried deleting the thumbnails and files and waited another 4 hours. This definately is a bug and could be much faster.

So, to work around it, I copied the DVD to harddisk, renamed the VOB files as MPG and worked with them....

But is it just my system?

You mentioned that you have followed a tutorial but not which one.
The tutorial that you need to follow (if you are not already) is this one.

DVD imported as JPG

Thanks Ian. Yes, exactly - that is the one. So

1. I was surprised to get thousands of JPGs
2. It is taking VS hours to remove them. Actually, it looks it is cleaning up %appdata%/Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\10.0\VS_Image.dat

You haven't inadvertently created a Ulead Image Sequence file have you?

It seems like thats what happened, but not through using those options. I followed the steps in the outline and got the img files.

Ian,

I found the error I made. When you use the "Insert DVD/DVD-R" command, and select the files (I selected the harddisk files), you are presented with a menu - http://grandpasgraphics.net/images/vs9Import-1.jpg
If you check the Tile X checkbox, you can slide sliders and select the range you want to import. However, notice that in the Info it says: "Still image" - which then brings in the Title as still images.
If you check the Chapter X - you can't use sliders, but get a video :
