Starting up capture in videostudio 7

I got vs 7 bundled with my leadtek tv2000xp tuner. I originally did not like capturing with vs, because there is no sound when capturing, so I used leadtek's pvr software. Recently, I took another look at at vs capture and found it to be more convenient for editing. However, when I start up vs capture, the screen is blank. I get around this by starting my leadtek pvr software. Doing this brings the tv signal up in vs. I then close my pvr and am able to capture in vs. Why can't I get a tv signal when first starting vs?

You will find that your capture card is only working correctly with the supplied software not with VS. That is not a problem of VS but of the hardware supplied.

You can capture with the software supplied and edit with VS. Most people are doing that in one way or another. Most, if not all of the senior members/moderators here, AFAIK, are using more than one program to get the results they want

Thanks for the reply, but I solved my problem. In options/video capture property settings, the input source has video tuner as default. When I change it to s-video, I get a picture.
