Post by shaun »

This could be something to do with my hardware, but when I import particle effects they are showing as squares. although the previews look ok. Any tips?

Welcome to the forums Shaun,

It could be your hardware, but I don't know anything about it. Please complete your System Information in your profile. Clicking on this button -->Image will take you to a short tutorial, explaining how to find and complete that information. This way it will always be available, and will save you from retyping it in the future.

What version are you using, 3D Production Studio, Cool 3D 3.0, or 3.5? When you are importing them, have you adjusted any parameters of the effect, and which particle effect?

hello ron. Ok I`ve updated some system info. I am using 3d production studio 1.01 by the way. i`ve used cool 3d before , its intuitive ,havn`t experienced any problems. I also use MSP 7 video editor with filters etc a lot and have no problems there. All of the particle effects appear in blocks, i haven`t tweaked them. They appear as they should in easy pallette though. All else seems ok, its not a major issue but would be nice to have these at hand.

If the hardware or the video driver does not support particle effects, you will get particles to show as squares / blocks. Go to IBM or Lenovo to see if there is any video driver updates on their website for your laptop.

Lenovo Support & Downloads - ThinkPad T23 - All Drivers (including support for Windows 2000 / XP / Vista):
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?...&familyind=50322

Lenovo Support - ThinkPad T23 - SuperSavage Video Driver:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4Z8NTP

If the video driver update does not help, then you need to check S3 to see if they have mobility video driver support for your ThinkPad T23.

S3 Graphics:
http://www.s3graphics.com/en/resources/drivers/

If all of their supports do not help, then you are doomed (however I would not think it's possible to get doomed).

Sorry, but it's a issue of driver, not the program.

sir, you is most helpful! Ok I tried ibm, microsoft, drivers. I now have a bloated machine! Anyway, still no joy. In fact, 3dps won`t import any image texture or background. This certainly affects its creative versatility, although the path editor is a blessing. Funnily enough I can import image textures into cool3D! yes its true. Also I have installed 3dps on my partners tecra, running windohs 98 and it functions as it should, but slow.! I won1t persue this any further. So , i am not doomed! I think its gonna be....cool3d....and some other ancient freeware animation apps. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=fiVestarTum0ur
