scanner symbol on standard menu

In PI8 I have a scanner symbol in the standard menu.
After installing the version12 tryout version there is no such symbol.
The Help info says about scanner (in german) : "click on the symbol in the standard menu"
I can bring the word scanner to the menu via user defined menu.
But do I have to do so or should the symbol be there from the beginning (installation)?

I haven't altered my default setup and there is no scanner button on my toolbars. No problem though you just click on FILE and in the drop down list you will find Scanner.
