I am still using Cool 3D Studio 1.0, is there a way to save to avi in widescreen 16 x 9. I have tried putting in 1024 x 576 pixel size under 'dimension' but when I bring it into Liquid Edition it still appears to be 4 x 3.
Any thoughts would be a appreciated

Thanks for that, but the "save options" box AVI tab does not offer the encoder you suggest.
The C3DS I use is version 1.0, maybe this encoder was added on later versions.
Any idea how I can obtain this or will I have to upgrade?

Hi Vidcad
There is not a latter version only a patch which you should apply if your version is 1.0.0 After applying the patch it will be 1.0.1
However this will not add any extra codecs.
The information from m rixon is a little misleading but basically correct.
You do not use save as but create video file.
When you select this you get a familiar box where you can enter the name of the video file you want to make. Also there is a drop down box where you can select the type, make sure this is set to avi. Now select the options button. Select the avi tab and in the compression drop down box you should have the option to select various schemes including DV encoder type 1 and 2. These are standard for windows and should be there. Personally I would always use type 1 but for Liquid you may need to use type 2. Now go back to the general tab and select the frame rate and frame size for your region. At the bottom you will see you can now choose 4:3 or 16:9.

16:9 Widescreen Resolutions for COOL3D
PAL 1024x576
NTSC 854x480
Use these dimensions for animations with (32 bit RGB AVI)alpha channel and compression None. Example: This way when adding an AVI of a sphere into NLE it is viewed perfectly symmetrical not squished or squeezed. This also requires that one has knowledge of using the appropriate template or project setting within editor, display ratio and non-square pixel rendering applied as well.

Widescreen 16 x 9
Thank you to m nixon, Nick & rwernei for your replies.
After trying the various options suggested, I eventually got a widescreen graphic to work (with symmetrical sphere) in Edition from C3DS, the settings were as follows:
Project Dimensions: 1024 x 576 Video Filter: PAL Timeline: 25fps
Create Video File - Video Save Options
AVI Tab:
Compression: None 24bit (32bit would not render the background)
General Tab:
Frame Size: 1024 x 576
Display Aspect Ratio: 1:1
Thanks again

Thanks, I'll give that try as well. I must admit I hadn't thought of doing that.
