Rediscovering a missing font
I made a nice little Christmas video. I created titles using a specific font. Recently I had to reload my computer. Now when I edit the video the titles default to my system fonts as I have not reloaded the font originally used.
How can I discover what font I used in the original so I can reinstall it back onto my system (no, I don't remember)? I have literally thousands of fonts stored on my system (not installed) and I only install those I need.
Thanks,
--Kevin

Kevin,
Try creating an image of your text with that font. Then go here: http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/, upload your image and it may be able to tell you what font you used..
About.com also lists several resources for this..http://desktoppub.about.com/od/identify ... a_Font.htm

I have a free font-viewing utility on my home computer. I think its The AMP Font Viewer.
It will show you all of your installed fonts, or all of the fonts in a particular folder.

That is a pretty cool utility Doug. I used to have it, probably still do an a disc somewhere..
Well I wasn't going to say the name, thinking competition, but it no longer is... Corel Draw Graphics Suite has a built in utility called Bitstream Font Navigator, that does the same thing as Amp...

I use a program called Font Xplorer for the same function. Reading your post it JUST dawned on me that Font Xplorer allows you to load numerous fonts for the current Windows session, then unloads them upon reboot (it loads as apposed to installing them). I'll load 'em all - open the video - confirm the font - then reboot. This should be interestingDVDDoug wrote:I have a free font-viewing utility on my home computer. I think its The AMP Font Viewer.

Hi Ken,
Yes - to make sure I just tested it by 'loading' a few fonts, opening Word and using the fonts, then rebooting. Opened Word after rebooting and the fonts are no longer there. While I've used this a few times, I'd recommend you test it on your system to make sure it behaves the same as it does for me. All in all - nice feature. There's another program I used to have that did this too - Font Browser.
