Is that an ADSTech USB Instant DVD device :?: Can you give us the exact model number of that unit?

Check that your cables are connected from the video-source-output to the unit's input ports.

Also, check that in CapWiz you have the proper input selected (RCA or S-Video -- they might have called it SVHS back then).

Make sure the video is playing before trying to capture.

Check ADS Tech's Support pages to see if they offer any updates for your device...

I suggest you go to ADSTech's Support pages for software updates and/or their list of FAQ's for this product.

Found my problem listed in their KNOWLEDGE BASE but tried what they suggested & it didn't work.

Q. I get an error "Bulk IN failed", how do I fix it?
Ans. I get an Error "Bulk IN failed" Error "Bulk IN failed" Please close any applications that pertain to the USB Instant DVD. Please do the following: Disconnect the USB Instant DVD from the USB Cable. Power Off the unit by disconnecting the power. Power On the unit by connecting the power. Reconnect the USB Cable to another USB Port on the Computer. Relaunch the capture software for the USB Instant DVD.

Did you try all the other things I mentioned in my initial post?

It helps if you can indicate what steps you have taken -- especially if someone has provided a list of things to try and/or look for...

Also, what are you complete computer specs :?:

Thaks again for your attention. Sorry for not being clearer in my post.

Don't worry about not being clear -- I know I've started new things in my life not knowing what to ask or how to reply. Hopefully, you'll be up and running in short time...

Just wanted to mention that if your plan is to get newer software to capture from that device, it probably won't happen. It's a very old model, and I think the best capture software to use with it would be ADSTech's CapWiz program (but you have to make sure to get the correct drivers and CapWiz version for that specific unit -- they updated the unit to capture video AND audio via USB (not like your unit that relies on the soundcard of your computer to capture the audio).

Once you can capture, you should be able to use the captured mpeg files in your program (such as VideoStudio, or whatever else you find to edit/author video with).

One other thing to check in your CapWiz settings -- make sure the TV Format matches your source -- either NTSC or PAL.

George

You also might want to check in Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager, to see if there are any big yellow question marks down towards the bottom over the category 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers'. That would indicate that something is wrong with at least one of your USB drivers or else the USB connection itself...

I also agree with George. CapWiz is the specialist capture program which you always need to use with Adstech devices, and if CapWiz is not able to capture, simply updating it is unlikely to resolve your problem. The fact that it is not working is, to my mind at least, pointing to it being more of a hardware-related problem, rather than the fault of CapWiz or even VS6.
