Simple steps first.
Check to see if there is any updated firmware for your DVD writer.
Possibly a bit of dirt has gotten inside the DVD Writer.
Check the surface of the DVD discs for dirt, scratches etc.

I believe you have a second computer - do you have these problems with those particular discs on your other machine (to eliminate faulty discs or a malfunctioning DVD writer)

@Lance,

Tried uninstalling the drive, and no luck, it still fails.

Steve,

Yes I do have a 2nd PC, however it was built shortly after the dinosaurs became extinct..:) It does not have a DVD player in it. I have 2 stand-alone DVD players, one more expensive then the other, and the discs play on both, as well as on my PC.

Have cleaned both the discs and the DVD player. As for firmware update, this is most puzzeling, my DVD burner is a OEM, HP DVD Writer 300n. However going to HP's website I can find it, and a firmware (not really an upgrade), but when I try running it, I get the error that I need to install my original software for the DVD player. It is and has been..

I'll continue to work with, for me though right now it's not critical, as I rarely import DVD's to work on them. I go the other way..:)

I was thinking maybe the media brand, but so far have eliminated that. I've tried importing the Press disc that came with my VS10+, and it does the same thing. Interesting note: No matter what disc I try, it always fails at 58%... :?

Thanks Lance and Steve..

Tried and failed. However instead of failing at 58%, I'm up to 70%. I would think this has to do with the type of disc, however its the same on all. I've tried Sony, Memorex, Fujfilm, and Maxell, both DVD+R and +RWs. So I'm starting to think that it just may be my DVD starting to fail. Why not, I've only got 1-HDD, CD-ROM, Floppy Drive left to replace... :x

Don't know if you've ever watched 'Only fools and Horses' but it reminds me of Trigger. He was awarded a Medal from the council because he had only used 1 broom in something like 15 years.

In a conversation with Del Boy and Rodney he goes on to say
"And in those 15 years it's only ever had 4 new handles and 6 heads"

Well I don't have UXDDVDPARSER.dll, but do have LXDVDPARSER.dll,1.1.19.126

EDITED

I had not installed SP1, so after your post MD, I done so, and found that the LXDVDPARSER.dll did not change. Also did not add a UXDVDPARSER.dll.

Also still fails, however at about 73% now. This is weird :? So which program of the "Studio" flavor is responsible for building the Common Files? If I removed that folder, then done a clean install, or repair on VS10+, would those be rebuilt? Would it affect all my other (MSP8, DMF4DC, VS8 &9)?

Hi Ron,
I think the latest firmware for your drive is version 3.20. Can you just check that? I have located a copy of that firmware if you need it.

The only one that I could find is 2.3, where did you find your version? Yes sure I could use it. It is for HP DVD Writer 300n?

maddrummer3301 wrote:Ron,
What version of LXDVDPARSER.DLL is installed on your system.
The file is located in this directory
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\DVD

Version 1.1.19.126 is 1,124KB comes with VS10+ Update
Version 1.1.19.130 is 1,152KB MF5+ Installation

Fixed typo
MD you put me on the right course..:) Managed to correct it and get it working again.:!:

It was that file and something else, what I don't know. First I renamed the LXDVDParser.dll to LXDVDParser.BAK, to see if VS10+ would rebuild it. I have the discs for it, so I could use the repair feature, instead of uninstalling and reinstall. VS10+ did add the driver file back in. However it still would not work.
Next I tried to just rename the DVD folder, but Windows would not allow me to. So I copied it to another HDD. Now this is strange, instead of Windows just copying the folder and contents, it copied the folder, and moved the contents leaving the original DVD folder empty. I figured ok, so we will see if VS will rebuild the entire folder. Ran a Repair install, and VS did replace everything. Tried to import a DVD and presto, it works...:D

Thanks everyone for the help..:)
